Cannabidiol is the substance abbreviated CBD. It is the active ingredient in Epidyolex; identifying a molecule does not by itself identify a complete formulation.
Terms associated with this entry: cannabidiol.
Where there is a clinical answer
EMA recognises Epidyolex as add-on treatment for particular epilepsies: Lennox–Gastaut, Dravet and tuberous sclerosis complex, under specific conditions. That assessment concerns the medicine, its patients and monitoring; it does not certify a commercial oil for anxiety or sleep.
The liver is part of the story too
A 2025 randomised trial included 201 healthy adults. Eight participants in the CBD group and none receiving placebo developed liver enzyme elevations above the specified criterion. These are data from that protocol, not an estimate of risk for every product or individual.
Reading what people report
The 2018 survey gathers experiences from 2,409 self-selected people. It helps describe motivations and perceptions, not determine what would have happened without CBD. A story can be sincere while leaving expectations, other treatments and everyday changes unresolved.
What has been studied
Reduced seizures in the assessed medicine’s indications; not a universal benefit of CBD.
Risks and gaps
Research in healthy adults documents a liver signal that prevents treating “natural” as synonymous with harmless.

A self-selected individual account, without product verification or clinical assessment. One person’s lack of response does not determine other people’s responses.
French-language account: relaxation without feeling dazed
A person in r/AskFrance describes feeling relaxed without feeling dazed and mentions many years of previous experience with THC. They also acknowledge differences between people.

A personal forum account; previous experience may affect the comparison. Composition and causality were not verified, and it does not demonstrate a treatment for anxiety.
Another French-language account: no perceived change
In the same discussion, another person says they noticed neither physical nor mental changes. Their description differs from the relaxation account without establishing why.

A brief, voluntary comment, without analysed composition or a controlled comparison. Two conflicting accounts cannot establish efficacy or response frequency.
Conclusion
The useful question is not whether CBD “works” in the abstract, but for which outcome, in which population and with which preparation. Separating those pieces recognises real evidence without turning it into general advertising.
Legal context
Read the Spain note and official sources. Absence from a cited list does not establish that a product is lawful.
